Ever notice people who complain that the only thing NFL refs need to do is call penalties consistently in a contest from start to finish? Those are the same idiots who then criticize refs for not putting away the whistle late in the game.

  1. I had no horses in this race. I leaned ever-so-slightly toward the Eagles. But shut up already about the penalty. It was a penalty, even though it made the last minutes of the game anti-climatic, it was the right call and should have been made. Even the Eagles DB James Bradberry, who was flagged for the penalty, said, “It was a hold,” I tugged his jersey. I was hoping they would let it ride.”

Here’s how Carl Cheffers, head referee for the Super Bowl, explained the play: “The receiver went to the inside and he was attempting to release to the outside,” said Cheffers. “The defender grabbed the jersey with his right hand and restricted him from releasing to the outside. So, therefore, we called defensive holding.”

    1. Almost every NFL colour commentator, who are all ex-players, disagree with just about every call made (other than perhaps offside). If they were reffing games, it would be bedlam on the field.

  2. I can't stand all the commentary during the game. These "Jocks" feel they have to explain in detail every single play. I don't need it, I don't want it, it's annoying. As long as I'm talking about it, these pre-game and halftime analyses are ridiculous. FIVE GUYS? Fire three of them and shut off the mic on one of them.
