According to Wikipedia, the
Gulf of Mexico basin covers approximately 1.6 million square kilometers and at its deepest spot plunges 4,384 meters. If the cap now in place holds, it is estimated the BP spill will have pumped upwards of 180 million gallons of oil into its waters. But to a lot of people in
Ohio, the Gulf is smaller and less tainted than the gulf that now exists between them and
LeBron James.
A thank you to DeCo for the email pointing out a typo I had here. It is fixed.
