According to the
N.Y. Post, in 1962 Johnny Carson’s wife, Joanne, was having an affair with Giants receiver Frank Gifford. Typical of Gifford, he said he
wasn't getting enough touches.
FRANK GIFFORD PLAYED FLANKER FOR THE GIANTS IN 1962
Very good! I'll bet he never said that to Chuck Bednarik.
Ironically, I saw a blurb from Seinfeld last night in which Jerry and Elaine portrayed Regis and Kathie Lee Gifford. After a minute of miscellaneous gibberish, it ends with Elaine asking "Didn't she marry a famous football player?" Jerry says "Yes she did, Y.A. Tittle."

Funny timing on that blurb vis-a-vis this quip.
