By RJ Currie - a tongue-in-cheek look at sports and the world.

Two-time world curling champ, Don Duguid of Manitoba, has been appointed to the Order of Canada. The presentation is postponed due to the COVID pandemic, so Duguid will "tuck it" away til then.
Duguid's is the only curling team to go undefeated back-to-back in world championship play in 1970 and 1971. He is credited with inventing the Manitoba Tuck, a curling delivery still used by elite Manitoba curlers. Duguid has taught curling around the world for the last 40 years.
I looked up the Manitoba Tuck and saw a brief video, but I don't know enough about standard deliveries to see a difference. From the written description, it sounds painful!

ReplyDeleteSounds like he's done good in his career.

Standard delivery is more like a genuflection, lead leg is bent at a right angle on a flat foot. If that helps explain it.
