The LPGA is
enforcing a conservative dress code, including limitations on leggings and racerback
tank tops. Yep. That'll convince young folks golf isn't an
old fuddy-duddy sport.
The LPGA should look at the "panties" that female track athletes wear. Not to mention the bikinis that the beach volleyball women have on. They make the LPGA look positively old fashioned. Chad
In the 70s, when the LPGA was looking for a way to gain a bigger audience and much more money, they used sex appeal. I'm old enough to remember Jan Stephenson, who became the association's centerfold.
Fabulous article Gary. Read it all. Hard to imagine that in 1977 her ex got put in an asylum — albeit briefly — because she wanted a divorce. The Hall-of-Fame stuff also makes you shake your head. She sold the sport, no question.

Couldn't agree more, Chad. Victorian by comparison.

DeleteYou are making good use of tinyurl.
I remember that, Gary. She took a lot of heat from the other golfers...until they saw the crowds.
