If Disney were to sponsor IndyCar driver Dario Franchitti, would his accidents be called Franchitti-Chitti-Bang-Bangs?

  4. That would be funny if "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" was a Disney movie. It is not.

Even though it starred Dick Van Dyke and the music was written by legendary Disney songwriters the Sherman Brothers, it has more in common with the James Bond franchise as it was produced by Albert R. Broccoli from an Ian Fleming novel and distributed by United Artists.

  5. Actually John, I did know that; I looked it up to be sure. But as you point out, the movie is strongly associated with Disney in the thoughts of the public. In fact, Dick Van Dyke quipped, "This will out-Disney Disney," a comment that reportedly so angered the Disney studio he did not appear in any Disney film for a number of years.

So I wrote the joke to make sure I didn't say Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was a Disney movie, but played on the association with Disney that people have. ... And would have in case of an accident.

  6. Always nice when a guy's first comment is a complaint. Also nice he tried to embarrass you instead of sending you an email. Boo to you Mr. Gar.

Good for you for not deleting his comment RJ. I would have.

I think the joke is very clever and funny. So did my local paper that also ran it.
